TrojanSpy:AndroidOS/Tapsnake.A is a trojan running on the Android mobile platform. It poses as a game but actually tracks the location of the user every 15 minutes. Installation TrojanSpy:AndroidOS/Tapsnake.A may be downloaded as a standard .APK installer for mobile devices running the Android platform. It poses as a game called 'Tapsnake' using the following icon: Upon installation, it displays the following program information asking the user to allow the application to access the user's location: Once this has been installed successfully, it shows the directions for the game on start up and appears to do its supposed intent. Payload Tracks user's location TrojanSpy:AndroidOS/Tapsnake.A serves as a client for another mobile application named "GPS Spy" that allows a remote attacker to track the location of the user every 15 minutes. It also prompts the user to "register" the application by sending his or her email address and a six-digit key. Additional information This application only allows the user to access the Menu option once; after that, the Menu option is disabled. It also does not offer the user the option to exit the program. The user may need to force-close the application using Manage Applications.
