This threat exploits the CVE-2011-3874 vulnerability in the Android operating system.

Rooting an Android device results in gaining the highest privilege available on the device and might not be done with malicious intent. Sometimes, it might be done for purposes such as:

• Bypassing the device's manufacturer and carrier limitations.
• Running unsigned applications.
• Running an application at administrator privileges.
