Additional DetailsTrojan:W32/Autoruninf.gen is a Generic Detection of autorun.inf files that may have been created on fixed or removable drives (such as USB drives) by malicious programs. These files are used by malware such as worms to facilitate their spread to new victims.
An autorun.inf file is a Windows instruction file associated with the Autorun feature; the file instructs the operating system what actions it may take with certain files (Open Files, Copy Files, etc) when a drive is accessed.
A malicious program may subvert the Autorun feature to:
€ Automatically execute a malicious file when the host drive is opened € Trick the user into executing a malicious file, usually by using social engineering techniques
