This threat can create files on your PC, including:

  • c:\programdata\microsoft\rac\statedata\racmetadata.dat
  • c:\programdata\microsoft\rac\statedata\racwmidatabookmarks.dat
  • c:\programdata\microsoft\rac\statedata\racwmieventdata.dat
  • %APPDATA% \microsoft\hkrun.exe


It modifies the registry so that it runs each time you start your PC. For example:

In subkey: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{56375067-ES12-66KQ-SY3W-0547W77K4DQ5}
Sets value: "StubPath"
With data: ""%APPDATA%\hkrun.exe""


The malware uses code injection to make it harder to detect and remove. It can inject code into running processes.
