Remove photos from social media

What can you do if someone post photos of you on social networks, without your permission ?

Many countries have laws to protect peoples privacy.
You can put in a complaint with the police and this will give you a stronger case if you want to report posts or photos on social networks.
Most social networks have the option to report photos or posts,
which they will investigate, and possible remove.

Facebook
Facebook is an application of the Meta.
You can report a post by click on the 3 dots, a the top of the post.
and click on report this post (scroll down).
You can do the same for photos: click on the 3 dots, and report this photo.

If you are tagged in a photo you can remove this tag by clicking next to your name on remove tag.

Including if someone created a fake account in your name, to report it and remove it.


Instagram
Instagram another app from Meta.

You can report a post by click on the 3 dots, a the top of the post.
and click on report this post (scroll down).
You can do the same for photos, or videos: click on the 3 dots, and report this photo/video.

Whatsapp
Whatsapp is also an application from the Meta.
As a chat application the info in the whatsapp is not/less controlled by Meta itself.
If the photos are posted in a whatsapp-group, you can ask one of the administrators of the group to delete them.

If it is a photo that you sent yourself, you can hold the picture for 2 seconds and then go to the trash icon and click delete for everyone. If you click delete for me it will only delete it on your device. This only works for a limited time (1h and 8min in the latest version). And doesn't work if someone saved it or has taken a screenshot.

TikTok

Go to the video/comment/LIVE or other content that you want to report.
Either press and hold on the video/comment/LIVE or tap the share icon as appropriate. Tap share or 3 dots icons to report other content.
Select Report and then select Report illegal content from the list.

X (Twitter)
X most people still know it as Twitter,
The fastest way is to ask the tweeter to remove the post/photo.
Click on the envelope symbol on their X / Twitter profile to send them a discreet message. (Only works if it is "open" to direct messages).

You can report the post or photo.
Click on 3 dots icons and Report Tweet.
One of the option is Harassed or intimidated with violence or Posting my private info.

Telegram
As with whatsapp the post in telegram is not central controlled.
You can always contact the administrators to remove a post/photo in the channel.
Or you can report the channel -> click on the 3 dots top right and on report.

Youtube
Like google, youtube is owned by Alphabet

To report a video, you do need to be logged in to your Google account. After you log in, click the 3 dots beneath the video. Next click the Report.
In the youtube-app, the 3 dots are on the top right of the video.
