Summary:
Code fixes for EMC Isilon OneFS are available to address a privilege escalation vulnerability in SmartLock compliance mode that may potentially be exploited by attackers to compromise the affected system.

Details:
EMC Isilon OneFS contains a privilege escalation vulnerability when SmartLock compliance mode is in use (see KB https://support.emc.com/kb/88677 for more details about SmartLock compliance mode). In SmartLock compliance mode, the system is designed to prevent root-level user logins to the system. However, this security vulnerability allows OneFS users with administrative privileges to create root-level users and log in to the system.

Resolution:
The following versions of EMC Isilon OneFS resolve this vulnerability:
• EMC Isilon OneFS 7.2.1.1
• EMC Isilon OneFS 7.2.0.4
• EMC Isilon OneFS 7.1.1.8
In addition, Patch-156748 is available for customers running OneFS 7.2.0.2.

EMC recommends that all customers upgrade to a version containing the resolution, or install the patch, at the earliest opportunity.
