A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS

Summary:

KCoreAddons could be made to run programs as your login if it received
specially crafted input.

Software Description:
- kf6-kcoreaddons: KCoreAddons are addons to QtCore

Details:

It was discovered that KCoreAddons incorrectly handled shell argument
quoting in KShell::quoteArgs. The parsing did not adequately handle shell
metacharacters, which could lead to a shell escape. An attacker could
possibly use this issue to execute arbitrary commands in applications that
relied on this method to handle user input.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
libkf6coreaddons6 6.24.0-0ubuntu1.1

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
