A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Summary:

Emacs could be made to crash or expose sensitive information if it opened
a specially crafted file.

Software Description:
- emacs: GNU Emacs editor

Details:

It was discovered that Emacs improperly handled specially crafted SVG
images, resulting in memory corruption. An attacker could possibly use
this issue to cause Emacs to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or
obtain sensitive information.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
emacs 1:30.2+1-2ubuntu1+esm1
Available with Ubuntu Pro

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
emacs 1:29.3+1-1ubuntu2+esm4
Available with Ubuntu Pro

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
