A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Summary:

HSQLDB could be made to overwrite files.

Software Description:
- hsqldb1.8.0: Java SQL database engine

Details:

It was discovered that HSQLDB incorrectly handled specially crafted
database files. An attacker could possibly use this issue to overwrite
arbitrary files.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
libhsqldb1.8.0-java 1.8.0.10+dfsg-11+deb12u1build0.22.04.1

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
libhsqldb1.8.0-java 1.8.0.10+dfsg-10ubuntu0.20.04.1~esm1
Available with Ubuntu Pro

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
libhsqldb1.8.0-java 1.8.0.10+dfsg-10~18.04ubuntu0.18.04.1~esm1

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
