A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:
- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Summary:
BioSig could be made to crash or run programs as your login if it
opened a specially crafted file.
Software Description:
- biosig: Open-source software library for biomedical signal processing
Details:
Mark Bereza and Lilith Wyatt discovered that BioSig incorrectly handled certain crafted input
files. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a denial of
service or execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2026-22891, CVE-2026-20777)
Update instructions:
The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
libbiosig3 3.9.0-1ubuntu0.1~esm1
Available with Ubuntu Pro
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
libbiosig3 2.6.0-1ubuntu1+esm1

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
